Annabeth is terrified. Just when she’s about to be reunited with Percy-after six months of being apart, thanks to Hera-it looks like Camp Jupiter is preparing for war. As Annabeth and her firneds Jason, Piper, and Leo fly in on the Argo II, she cant blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon figurehead, Leo’s fantastical creation doesn’t appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans that the visitors from Camp Half-Blood are coming in peace.

And that’s only one of her worries. In her pocket, Annabeth carries a gift from her mother that came with an unnerving command: Follow the Mark of Athena. Avenge me. Annabeth already feels weighed down by the prophecy that will send seven demigods on a quest to find-and close-the Doors of Death. what more does Athena want from her?

Annabeth’s biggest fear, though, is that Percy might have changed. What if he’s now attached to Roman ways? Does he still need his old friends? As the daughter of the goddess or war and wisdom, Annabeth knows she was born to be a leader-but never again does she want to be without Seawood Brain by her side.

Narrated by four different demigods, The Mark of Athena is an unforgettable journey across land and sea to Rome, where important discoveries, surprising sacrifices, and unspeakable horrors await. Climb aboard Argo II, if you dare.

Rick Riordan is one of my absolute favorite authors. I love all of his books. This one has been preordered for quite some time. I couldn’t wait to get it. I wasn’t disappointed either.

Once again the characters are well developed. Annabeth has always been hard to relate to in previous books but in this one you will constantly cheer for her and you will love her. Piper is an amazing character. I really enjoyed getting to know her better. I just wished her chapters focused more on the tasks at hand then her relationship with Jason. Each of the 7 main characters will have you cheering for each of them.

The Mark of Athena is full of non stop action. It will keep you turning the pages until the very end.

Rick Riordan is an amazing writer and he wont disappoint.

He’s b-a-a-ack! Despite their best efforts, Carter and Sadie Kane can’t seem to keep Apophis, the chaos snake down. Now Apophis is threatening to plunge the world into eternal darkness, and the Kanes are faced with the impossible task of having to destroy him once and for all. Unfortunately, the magicians of the House of Life are on the brink of civil war, the gods are divided, and the young initiates of Brooklyn House stand almost along against the forces of chaos.

To find the answer they need, the Kanes must rely on the murderous ghost of a powerful magician who might be able to lead them to the serpents shadow…or might lead them to their deaths in the depths of the underworld.

I have to say I think Rick Riordan is one of my all time favorite authors and I am very sad that his is the last book in the Kane Chronicales series.

The characters have made an awesome come back and I love each and every one of them well except for the evil ones. Carter and Sadie are well developed as always and I haved loved watching them grow in each book. I loved being introduced to Zia last book and I loved getting to know more about her. I also loved seeing Carter and her relationship starting to bloom. Walt and Sadie’s relationship continues to grow as well. The entire story you know something is up with Walt. The secondary characters were also very well developed and added a lot to the plot.

The action and adventure was very well thought out and I enjoyed every bit of it! The twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat and you want to keep turning those pages.

I love how the story is told from both of Sadie’s and Carter’s points of view. To see the adventure unfolding from each of them is truly unique and adds a truly different out look to the plot.

I promise you once you pick it up you want be able to put it down. The adventure monsters, and the Egyptian mythology will keep you entertained until the very end.

From the Cover:

Percy is confused. When he awoke from his long sleep, he didn’t know much more than his name. His brain fuzz is lingering , even after the wolf Lupa told him he is a demigod and trained him to fight with the pen/sword in his pocket. Somehow Percy manages to make it to a camp for half-bloods, despite the fact that he has to keep killing monsters along the way. But the camp doesn’t ring any bells with him. The only thing he can recall from his past is another name: Annabeth.

Hazel is supposed to be dead. When she lived before, she didn’t do a very good job of it. Sure, she was an obedient daughter, even when her mother was possessed by greed. But that was the problem- when the Voice took over her mother and commanded Hazel to use her “gift” for an evil purpose, Hazel couldn’t say no. Now, because of her mistake, the future of the world is at risk. Hazel wishes she could ride away from it all on the stallion that appears in her dreams.

Frank is a klutz. His grandmother says he is descended from heroes and can be anything he wants to be, but he doesn’t see it. He doesn’t even know who his father is. He keeps hoping Apollo will claim him, because the only thing he is good at is archery-although not good enought to win camp war games. His bulky physique makes him feel like an ox, especially in front of Hazel, his closest friend at camp. He trusts her completely-enough to share the secret he holds close to his heart.

Beginning at the “other” camp for half-bloods and extending as far as the land beyond the gods, this breathtaking second installment in the Heroes of Olympus series introduces new demigods, revives fearsome monsters, and features other remarkable creatures, all destined to play a part in the Prophecy of Seven.

My Thoughts:

Well I have been anxiously awaiting this book and let me tell you that the birth of my son actually caused me to forget that this book was coming out. Blame it on the lack of sleep of having a newborn, or that I don’t have much free time but I was finally able to go to Barnes and Noble for the first time about a week ago and I saw it sitting there and I had to get it.

The Son of Neptune is just as amazing as any of the books Rick Riordan has written. Matter of fact I think it might be my favorite! It’s a hard call!

The Son of Neptune picked up sort of where The Lost Hero left off. We are now on the other side of the country seeing everything going on with Percy again! I love Percy so I am so glad he played such a big part! Percy finds “the other camp” and that is where we are introduced to lots of new characters! I really enjoyed Hazel, the daughter of Pluto. I love learning all the new demigods tricks and also learning more about them. I also really enjoyed Frank and how he continues to grow throughout the book.

Riordan did an amazing job with this addition to the Heroes of Olympus series and continuing the story! I loved learning more about the Prophecy of Seven. I loved the action and adventure especially to the land beyond the gods! I am always very happy to read one of Rick Riordan books. The characters are so believable and real. I love how the book is in third person and switches back and forth between characters. To make it easy for all of you I love every aspect of this book!!

I can’t wait for the next installment.

From the Cover:

Ever since the gods of Ancient Egypt were unleashed in the modern world, Carter Kane and his sister, Sadie, have been in trouble. As descendants of the House of Life, the Kanes have some powers at their command; but the devious gods haven’t given them time to master their skills at Brooklyn House, a training ground for young magicians. And now their most threatening enemy yet-the Chaos snake, Apophis-is rising. If they don’t prevent him from breaking free in a few days’ time, the world will end. In other words, it’s a typical week for the Kane family.

To have any chance of battling the forces of Chaos, the Kanes must revive the sun god, Ra. But that would be a feat more difficult than any magician has ever accomplished. First they have to search the world for the Book of Ra, then they have to learn how to chant its spells. Oh-and did we mention that no one knows where Ra is, exactly?

Narrated by two different wisecracking voices, featuring a large cast of new and unforgettable characters, and with adventures spanning the globe, this second installment of the Kane Chronicles is nothing short of a thrill ride.

My Thoughts:

I have been anxiously awaiting this book since reading The Red Pyramid. I’ve had it pre-ordered for months so I was super happy when I finally received it.

What can I say, Rick Riordan is an amazing author who writes incredible books. The Throne of Fire is an amazing sequel to The Red Pyramid. I love the way that he is able to use his novels not only to amuse his readers but also to teach them about Egyptian mythology. He literally brings the gods to life and I love it!!

The Throne of Fire is full of action and adventure that immediately captures the readers attention. It’s full of humor. Sadie and Carter really create most of the humor by the way they phrase their observations and the various names they give things. I really enjoy their relationship and how real they seem especially when they are teasing each other.

Riordan has once again created exceptional characters. The secondary characters are well developed and I loved learning more about them. The new gods that we meet are wonderful and so much fun to read about!

Once again Rick Riordan has written an amazing book and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
