Finnegan MacCullen
A thirteen year old apprentice with the famous Irish temperament

Gideon Lir
A legendary Celtic warrior with a bit of temper of his own

Secretly, these blue collar warriors battle the hobgoblins infesting their suburban neighboorhood…when they are not battling each other.

Finn (not bleedin Finnegan) MacCullen is eager to begin his apprenticeship. He soon discovers the ups and downs of hunting monsters in the suburbs under the demanding tutelage of the knight, Gideon Lir. Both master and apprentice are descendents of the Tuatha De Danaan, a magical race of warriors from Ireland. Scattered long ago to the four corners of the world, the De Danaan wage a two thousand year old clandestine battle with their ancient enemy, the Amandan, a breed of goblin-like creatures.

Now with the beasts concentrating their attacks on Finn, he and his master must race to locate the lost Spear of the Tuatha De Danaan, the only weapon that can destroy the Amandan, all the while hiding his true identity from his friends, Rage and Savannah, twins whose South African roots may hold a key to Finn’s survival.

Armed with a bronze dagger, some ancient Celtic magic, and a hair-trigger temper, Finn is about to show his enemies the true meaning of “fighting Irish.”

As you all know I am in absolute love with Darby’s other series and let me tell you that this one has captured my heart as well. This book is an amazing start to what sounds like an amazing new series.

You will fall in love with the characters. They are well developed and easy to relate to. We learn very little about the past of Finn Finnegan other than his parents died, he is an orphan who lives with his Aunt & Uncle and his overwhelming amount of cousins. I hope we will learn more about him as the series continues. Gideon is hard on Finn but no more so then he needs to be and he quick;y realizes that Finn reminds him of his self.

Darby is an amazing writer and that once again comes out here. Her imagery transports the reader, the characters are lovable and easy to pass as real people next door. Finn Finnegan is filled with tons of action, fighting, and will keep you constantly turning the pages.

Finn Finnegan is a quick read but will have you on a roller coaster for the entire read. You wont want to put it down! I didn’t!!

Annabeth is terrified. Just when she’s about to be reunited with Percy-after six months of being apart, thanks to Hera-it looks like Camp Jupiter is preparing for war. As Annabeth and her firneds Jason, Piper, and Leo fly in on the Argo II, she cant blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon figurehead, Leo’s fantastical creation doesn’t appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans that the visitors from Camp Half-Blood are coming in peace.

And that’s only one of her worries. In her pocket, Annabeth carries a gift from her mother that came with an unnerving command: Follow the Mark of Athena. Avenge me. Annabeth already feels weighed down by the prophecy that will send seven demigods on a quest to find-and close-the Doors of Death. what more does Athena want from her?

Annabeth’s biggest fear, though, is that Percy might have changed. What if he’s now attached to Roman ways? Does he still need his old friends? As the daughter of the goddess or war and wisdom, Annabeth knows she was born to be a leader-but never again does she want to be without Seawood Brain by her side.

Narrated by four different demigods, The Mark of Athena is an unforgettable journey across land and sea to Rome, where important discoveries, surprising sacrifices, and unspeakable horrors await. Climb aboard Argo II, if you dare.

Rick Riordan is one of my absolute favorite authors. I love all of his books. This one has been preordered for quite some time. I couldn’t wait to get it. I wasn’t disappointed either.

Once again the characters are well developed. Annabeth has always been hard to relate to in previous books but in this one you will constantly cheer for her and you will love her. Piper is an amazing character. I really enjoyed getting to know her better. I just wished her chapters focused more on the tasks at hand then her relationship with Jason. Each of the 7 main characters will have you cheering for each of them.

The Mark of Athena is full of non stop action. It will keep you turning the pages until the very end.

Rick Riordan is an amazing writer and he wont disappoint.

I love Darby Karchut’s Griffin series. I have from the very beginning and it just keeps getting better and better.

Griffin’s Storm is full of non stop action that will keep you turning the pages and keep you reading until the very end.

Once again the characters are strong and well developed. There are new characters introduced and I loved getting to know them. The dynamic the characters create are extraordinary. Darby’s characters feel so real that I feel like they could literally jump out of the book at any time.

The plot as always is fun, interesting, and keeps you on your toes the entire time. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough and as always I am left wanting more!!

For Centuries, there have been rumors about a lowly caste of supernatural beings known as the Terrae Angeli. Armed with the power to control Earth, Fire, Wind and Water, these warriors and their apprentices clandestinely serve as guardians for humans in danger.

Forced to become mortal, ex-teen angel Griffin has been banished from the Terrae Angeli. Struggling to adjust, he enrolls in the heaven-and-hell known as high school. In spite of his friends support, Centennial High proves to be a battleground complete with a malicious math teacher.

And to make matters worse, his mentor, Basil, has been ordered to take on a new apprentice, the gifted and egotistical seventeen-year-old Sergei, whose covert attacks make Griffin’s home life as bleak as a Siberian winter. Caught between school, Sergei, and a desperate secret, Griffin is certain of one thing: the only way to fight a cold war is with Fire.

When Darby Karchut contacted me about reading her first book Griffin Rising I said yes and I am so happy I did so I have been anxiously awaiting the second part of the series since I finished Griffin Rising. I think Griffin’s Fire is even better!!

The characters are very interesting and well developed I loved being able to learn more about Basil and Griffin. I loved how all of the relationships continually grow and change. I loved that we were introduced to new characters even though I wanted to beat up one of those.

Griffin is wondering where he fits whether he should just enter the mortal world but once he starts getting used to high school and his new life he starts getting his powers back confusing him even more.

I love the style of the writing. I love the diary entries from Basil, Griffin, and Katie. I think these entries add something to the storyline.

Once again Darby Karchut hits a homerun! This is a fun, interesting and light-hearted book, it is a fast-paced read that will hold your attention through the entire book!!
