He’s b-a-a-ack! Despite their best efforts, Carter and Sadie Kane can’t seem to keep Apophis, the chaos snake down. Now Apophis is threatening to plunge the world into eternal darkness, and the Kanes are faced with the impossible task of having to destroy him once and for all. Unfortunately, the magicians of the House of Life are on the brink of civil war, the gods are divided, and the young initiates of Brooklyn House stand almost along against the forces of chaos.

To find the answer they need, the Kanes must rely on the murderous ghost of a powerful magician who might be able to lead them to the serpents shadow…or might lead them to their deaths in the depths of the underworld.

I have to say I think Rick Riordan is one of my all time favorite authors and I am very sad that his is the last book in the Kane Chronicales series.

The characters have made an awesome come back and I love each and every one of them well except for the evil ones. Carter and Sadie are well developed as always and I haved loved watching them grow in each book. I loved being introduced to Zia last book and I loved getting to know more about her. I also loved seeing Carter and her relationship starting to bloom. Walt and Sadie’s relationship continues to grow as well. The entire story you know something is up with Walt. The secondary characters were also very well developed and added a lot to the plot.

The action and adventure was very well thought out and I enjoyed every bit of it! The twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat and you want to keep turning those pages.

I love how the story is told from both of Sadie’s and Carter’s points of view. To see the adventure unfolding from each of them is truly unique and adds a truly different out look to the plot.

I promise you once you pick it up you want be able to put it down. The adventure monsters, and the Egyptian mythology will keep you entertained until the very end.

  1. Great review. I abandoned this series a while back because I didn’t think it measured up to the Percy Jackson series, but I’m thinking about picking it back up again. (:
